First time staying there and was very impressed The room price included breakfast which was good value. Will definitely stay there again.
Room was fabulous but a little concerned about customer service.... I'm still waiting for my kindle which I left at the hotel and which the staff stated they would return.... I've phoned 5 times and left messages since and still would like to speak to a human to enquire as to where my kindle is....kindle arrived, took about 4 weeks but I've got it! Hooray!
Room freezing.moved and still no heating but slightly warmer. Manager, well she needs retraining and she was no help at all. Food lovely and bar staff friendly
My room was satisfactory and good value; no complaints there. However, the Toby Carvery, which was in the same building and ownership, where one ate, left a lot to be desired. The food was up to the usual Toby standard, but the service was abysmal. Although the staff were pleasant, the service was very poor. We ordered a bottle of wine to go with the meal, and I had to cancel it as we had nearly finished eating and it hadn't arrived. A dish to accompany the meal like wise came very late. I had to forage for knives and forks as none were provided. Oh dear. And the bill was wrong - I kindly pointed out that they had grossly undercharged me. Our food had been left off! Breakfast similarly challenged the staff, as I had to search around for items such as serviettes and cutlery.Oh dear again.
Very clean room and comfy bed. It has plainly been redone and the bathroom and furnishings were new and the whole effect was fresh and well maintained. On the down side, the room was very noisy, and the reception spotty (receptionist and other staff didnt acknowledge that people had arrived, so it felt very unwelcoming). Room could have done with a hairdryer.
