Today I took some old gold jewellery to sell at this shop. It has been in Doncaster for years. I was offered 460 by the young lady behind the counter and told the price of gold had gone down. I refused the offer and she has then gone on to say she could pay 500. Also if I got a better offer elsewhere to come back and she would match it. I said it was too cold to wander around the shops and I would wait until the gold price goes up again and come back another time. As I passed Ramsdens I decided I would see what they would offer. I told them I'd been offered 500, and the young girl seemed surprised. Anyway, I walked out of there with 600 quid. What more can I say.

Unfortautnly as google does not offer a respond facility, the only option we can see to respond/defend the below review tfrom Jordan Jones was to write a review I feel as a reputable company I must reply to this unfair review. Firstly I would like to point out, if the coins in which you refer to are of high importance or valuable I find it difficult to understand why you would have approached us, a business that deals in scrap metal buying not a coin specialist, offering us to purchase them from yourself. I would have thought a coin dealer or a museum would have been a more appropriate source in order to have the coins authenticated enabling you to not only receive the best price but preserving such coins & not melted for scrap. You brought a pile of metal you had found with a metal detector which we spent the time shifting through, most of which was waste metal. You had a two shilling coin that was dated after 1919 therefore only 50% silver, you also had some American Dollar coins which showed no Hallmarks or anything to prove they were in fact silver. The current price for pure silver is 11.18 per oz, which we would only receive 90% of that value ourselves, they then would require testing at the Sheffield assay office which costs 40 per melt therefore the 9.22 ozs which is what you bought in at 11.18 = 103.07 less 40 to be assayed = 63.07 and thats for pure silver So I dont believe we were unreasonable in our offer of 40 taking into consideration the above along with time & travel costs in which we incur for travel to Sheffield. At the time you were advised what we could offer and you accepted, you then later returned and requested your coins back, which we completely accepted therefore I do not understand the bad feeback, we are a company who has been running for over 35 years, we are here to run a business and pride ourselves on our service, I do not believe we did yourself any injustice in our offer, we wish you well in finding the buyer you desire.

So today I decided to take in my 1920 90% silver American dollar coins. They said they were only 50% silver content. You cannot see what the scales read and they apparently have a chart which tells them the silver content of coins from the year. I did some research and the current price of silver is 11.33 per ounce. They coins were 1oz each and I had 11 of them. I went along with what they were saying and when they gave me a price the total was 40!!!. NEVER TAKE YOUR GOLD OR SILVER TO THIS PLACE YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF.

Great old fashioned customer service , very reasonable prices for excellent workmanship , will definitely be using them again. Highly recommend.

Couldn't recommend Gold Workshop enough. It is not often you come across a great business who genuinely want to help and are fantastic at their job without charging the world! I drive from Lincoln to visit them and wouldn't go anywhere else. Highly recommended.
