Very rare I post anything but today I feel the need. Been struggling with one or two minor health issues for many months and more recently Achilles and glute pain preventing me from doing what I love which is running. In just a two visits of visiting Jenny Blizard at Blizard physiotherapy, I'm feeling very optimistic. Blizard physiotherapy are just amazing at listening and giving sound advice on diet/nutrition, strength and conditioning advice and of course injury treatment to get you back on track. Massive shout out for them and highly recommended for first class service!!!
Blizard has helped me not only become a quicker and more efficient runner; Knocking 10 minutes off my 1/2 marathon time 3 minutes of my 10k and 2 minutes of my 5k within a year they have also been invaluable in helping me get back running after an injury.Towards the end of the running season, my right foot presented pain, which not only stopped me from running but also any weight bearing. Jenny at the clinic within 45 minutes had narrowed down causes/effects and a strategy to start recovery. The care I have had has been superb in not only giving me treatment but homework to do. Checking on my progress regularly and with a few more return appointments and a month later has me back running and building up. As a runner herself you feel much more confident in her advice. We are now working on strength exercises and mobility so the issue will not return once Im back to full training. I cannot thank the team enough. They have provided training guidance, recovery guidance and mental toughness guidance. But most importantly given me advice so I can prevent further injuries! Thanks to all the team!
Thanks to the Staff at Blizard for the run MOT. I think I failed, but with a few advisories from Jenny and Matty, I now have a new set of stretches that have boosted my confidence in fixing a few long term faults. From the video analysis, Jenny first spotted the problems and suggested areas to work on. Then Matty determined the most suitable stretches and strengthening exercises to improve things. I then went on a 7mile club run (not advised), but kept it steady and tried not to over stress the body. But it gave me a good chance to work on a few of Jenny's comments (ie. loading the Achilles), it made sense, and it worked! Progress on day 1.
Great experience at the Running MOT session. Very knowledgeable and welcoming team, and having done the Yoga for runners session as well in the past they really are interested in making you a better and injury free athlete
brilliant hour spent with the staff at blizard. not being what you might call 'runner sized' I'm always a bit nervous going into situations where I'll be around 'fit' people. I shouldn't have been. all the staff are brilliant very professional and extremely knowledgeable. I had twenty minutes with the physio discussing a historical injury and he gave me a series of stretches and exercises to sort this, then had a gait analysis, and much more in depth one than I've had before looking at posture, head and arm position and stride length, again more stretches and exercise to try and loosen off tight hamstrings. I genuinely couldn't recommend blizard enough.
